Tigers Pick Up Two After Beating Augustana and Whitworth in Orlando

Orlando, Fla.- The DePauw men's tennis team picked up two wins after defeating Augustana (Ill.) 6-3 and Whitworth 5-4. The Tigers improve to 7-6 for the season, while Augustana drops to 11-5 and Whitworth falls to 3-10.
 
In its match against Augustana, the Tigers' Ryan McCook and Wils Warren defeated Gabriel Luna and Timothee Phillip 8-4 on court two to give the Tigers an early doubles play lead. Roee Sela and Scott Anderson tacked on another doubles win for DePauw after defeating the Vikings' Nicolas Navarro and Saman Rezaeyan 8-4 on court three. Augustana would cut DePauw's lead in half after Arthur Hermange and David Larraga defeated Finley Buelte and Teagen Crow on court one.
 
Finley Buelte would put the Tigers up by three after defeating David Larraga 6-1, 6-2 on court two. On court four, Jake Louiselle beat Saman Rezaeyan 6-3, 6-1, and on court three, Ryan McCook secured the win for DePauw after coming from behind and defeating Gabriel Luna 2-6, 6-3, 10-8. The Tigers' final victory of the morning came on court five after Scott Anderson beat Timothee Phillip 6-2, 7-5. The Vikings would record two more match victories on courts one and six. On court one, Samuele Pia fell to Arthur Hermange 6-4, 6-1, while Evan Uhl lost to Nicolas Navarro 7-5, 7-5.

In its second match of the day, DePauw held off Whitworth, beating the Pirates in a tightly contested 5-4 win. 

The Tigers took a 2-1 lead in doubles play, with Finley Buelte and Teagen Crow defeating Henry Preacher and Nathan Tjelle 8-3. On court three, Scott Anderson and Roee Sela beat Colby Cinqmars and Jess Weaver 8-5. Whitworth got on the board after Matt Froslan and Ethan Warring beat Ryan McCook and Wils Warren 8-6. 
 
The Pirates would even the score at two after Henry Preacher defeated Evan Uhl 6-4, 6-1 on court three. Whitworth would take the lead for the first time when Nathan Tjelle beat Samuele Pia 6-4, 6-3 on court one. Minutes later, Teagen Crow's 6-4, 5-7, 10-8 win over Matt Froslan tied the two teams at three. On court two, the Pirate's Ethan Warring outlasted Scott Anderson, beating him 6-3, 3-6, 10-4. Down a match with two matches still in play, the Tigers secured their win over the Pirates, following back-to-back tiebreaking wins. On court five, Hudson Mosher defeated Colby Cinqmars 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 10-2, and earning the 5-4 victory for DePauw was Grayson Zylstra. On court four, Zylstra beat Jess Weaver 7-6 (9-7), 6-7 (4-7), 10-6.
