Tigers Fall to Rams on the Road

Orlando, Fla.- The DePauw men's tennis team fell to Fordham University 5-2 to open its Spring Break play. The Tigers moved to 5-5 for the season, while the Rams improved to 4-7. 
 
In doubles play, Fordham jumped to a 1-0 lead after winning two of the three doubles matches. On court one, Ryan McCook and Chase Hutchinson fell to Giorgio Soemarno and Nick Mueller 8-3. The Rams' Nicholas Kanazirev and Dhillon Virdee-Oakley beat Wils Warren and Teagen Crow 8-6 on court two. Roee Sela and Scott Anderson won the Tigers' lone doubles match, beating Fordham's John Mascone and Stefan Stojanovic 8-6.
 
The Rams would eventually pull away from the Tigers after securing four of the six singles matches. On court three, Dhillon Virdee-Oakley defeated Ryan McCook 6-2,6-2, and Stefan Stojanovic beat Evan Uhl 6-4, 6-1 on court six. The Tigers' Finley Buelte would get DePauw on the board with a win 6-4, 6-4 victory over Fordham's Nicholas Kanazirev on court two. On court four, John Mascone would secure the win for the Rams after defeating Jake Louiselle 6-3, 6-3. DePauw's Scott Anderson won another match for the Tigers after defeating Bingru Chen 6-3,1-6, 6-2 on court five. The afternoon's final match ended in a battle between the Rams' Nick Mueller and the Tigers' Samuele Pia on court one. Unfortunately for DePauw, Mueller outlasted Pia, beating him 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
