Auburndale, Fla. - DePauw opened its spring break trip with a doubleheader against Williams and swept the pair of seven-inning games by scores of 14-0 and 10-4. DePauw improved to 7-6 and the Ephs dropped to 4-5.
In the opener, the Tigers limited the Ephs to just three hits and the offense put eight runs on the board in the third, three in the fourth, one in the sixth and two in the seventh.
Grady Johnson collected four of the Tigers' 14 hits with
Ty Sucher,
Carter Knoll and
Louis Florida each adding a pair.
Louis Florida had the game's lone home run. James O'Connor had two hits for Williams.
Pearse Riendeau improved to 2-1 after allowing just three hits in six innings while striking out seven with no walks. Nick Skiera dropped to 0-2.
In the second game, DePauw scored three in the first before Williams took the lead with a four-run fourth. The Tigers responded with a seven-run fifth and held on for the win.
Sucher had three of DePauw's 14 hits followed by Florida,
Danny Glimco,
Carter Knoll and Florida with two each. Florida, again, had the game's lone homer.Â
O'Connor, Henry Juan, Owen McHugh and Ryan Nakajima each had two of Williams' 10 hits.
Charlie Hawk improved to 1-1 with 3 1/3 innings of one-hit, scoreless relief. Jacob Martin dropped to 0-1.
DePauw faces Union (N.Y.) tomorrow at 10 a.m.
