Holland, Mich. - Hope outscored DePauw, 14-9, during the middle two periods, and handed the Tigers their first loss of the season by a 20-14 score. DePauw dropped to 5-1, while the Flying Dutch improved to 3-3.
The teams were tied, 3-3, at the end of the first period and then at 4-4 before Hope starting pulling away for a 9-6 halftime lead. DePauw was within two at 11-9 after
Bridget Driscoll's score with 10:54 left in the third, but the Flying Dutch scored four times in a 2:48 stretch to push the lead to 15-9. The Tigers were no closer than five the rest of the way.
Caleigh Claar paced DePauw with five goals with
Emily Napier adding four. Driscoll and
Kate Leone each had two assists for the Tigers. Kerrigan Brown led Hope with four goals and Molly Frederickson had four assists.
Lydai Hollis totaled six saves in goal for DePauw with Hope's Maddie Yakes totaling 10.
Driscoll paced DePauw with eight draw controls and four caused turnovers and shared the team lead with
Maggie Little as each had five ground balls.
Caleigh Randall had 10 draw controls for Hope and, along with Carly Llewellyn and Stella Bottum, finished with three ground balls.
Hope outshot DePauw, 36-34, and committed 20 turnovers to the Tigers' 21. DePauw led in ground balls, 23-19, but the hosts held a 21-17 edge in draw controls.
The Tigers return to action on Wednesday, March 27, with a 4 p.m. MDT game at Colorado College.
