Tigers Open NCAC with Loss at Wooster

Wooster, Ohio - Wooster outscored DePauw, 4-0, in the second period and opened the third with a 3-1 stretch on the way to a 17-10 in over the Tigers in the North Coast Athletic Conference opener for both schools. DePauw moved to 5-3 overall, while Wooster is now 7-3.

Wooster grabbed a 3-0 lead before DePauw closed the opening period on a 3-1 run to trim the Fighting Scots' lead to 4-3. The hosts extended to lead to 8-3 at halftime and then used another 3-1 run to push the margin to seven at 11-4. The Tigers were no closer than five the rest of the contest.

Connor Gibson, Henry White, Gavin Berry and Beckett Tasker each scored a pair, while Gibson, Berry and Tasker each had two assists. 

Lane Kellogg paced Wooster with six goals with Vinny DiLeo following with four and Ben Byars three. DiLeo had three assists for Wooster.

Anthony Reinhardt totaled 21 saves in goal for DePauw, while Paul Chandler had eight and Jason Astle one for the Fighting Scots.

Matthew Roman led DePauw with eight faceoff wins with Jack Blum, Charlier Rodriguez and Matthew Garrigan each finishing with four ground balls. Garrigan caused three turnovers.

Wooster's Jimmy Fisher won 17 faceoffs and totaled 12 ground balls. 

The Fighting Scots outshot DePauw, 55-35 including 38-19 on goal. The Tigers committed 24 turnovers to Wooster's 14 and the Fighting Scots led in ground balls, 46-26. Wooster won 20 of the 31 faceoffs.

DePauw returns to play on Wednesday, March 27, with a 5 p.m. game at Delaware Valley.
