Wooster, Ohio - DePauw held a two-point lead over Wooster nearly six minutes into its North Coast Athletic Conference contest, but the host and eighth-ranked Fighting Scots scored 18 straight and pulled away for an 84-53 win over the Tigers. The Tigers dropped to 3-6 overall and 1-2 in the NCAC, while the Fighting Scots improved to 8-0 overall and 3-0 in NCAC play.
The Tigers scored the game's first six points over the opening 1:48, but Wooster hit a trio of threes in a 52-second span to take a 9-8 lead. DePauw held a 13-11 advantage after
Sam Jacobs knocked in a trey at the 14:30 mark, but those would be the Tigers' last points for the next 4:36 as Wooster rattled off the next 18 to take a 29-15 lead.
Included in the run were four 3-pointers by the Fighting Scots. Wooster took a 51-23 lead into the halftime.
DePauw got no closer than 24 in the second half with Wooster's lead reaching as many as 37 points.
Jacobs paced DePauw with 15 points, while
Caleb Washington grabbed five rebounds.
Isaac Roeder led Wooster with 18 points with Jamir Billings chipping in 15 along with eight assists and three steals. Breckman Oakley added 11 points with Jaiden Cox-Holloway grabbing seen rebounds.
DePauw shot 31 percent from the field to Wooster's 51.6 percent with the Tigers hitting just 2-of-24 3-pointers and the Fighting Scots burying 20-of-40 from beyond the arc.
The Tigers host Greenville on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 6 p.m.
