Greencastle, Ind. - Visiting Greenville held a five-point lead in the opening half, but DePauw put together an 18-4 run and remained in the lead on the way to a 127-111 win over the Panthers. The Tigers improved to 4-6, while the Panthers dropped to 4-6.
Greenville scored nine straight to take a 40-35 lead with 7:38 left in the first half and still led 42-39 before
Reph Stevenson scored six straight in a 57-second stretch to give DePauw a 45-42 advantage. The Panthers countered with a bucket, but the Tigers rattled off eight straight including six from
Eli Ellis and two by
Divine Adeyanju to make it 53-44 with 2:50 left in the half. The Tigers closed the half with an 11-2 stretch to take a 69-55 lead into the intermission.
DePauw stretched the margin to 18 at 85-67 before the Panthers started to chip away at the Tigers' lead, eventually pulling to within five at 93-88 with 10:28 remaining. An 11-4 DePauw run put the Tigers' lead back to double figures where it stayed the rest of the game.Â
Stevenson led all scorers with a career-high 32 on 14-of-15 shooting from the floor with 28 points coming in the first half. Ellis followed with a career-high 17 points, while
Caleb Washington added 14.
Brady Kunka finished with 11 and
Kyle Lillwitz 10. Lillwitz and Kunka finished with eight rebounds apiece with
Patrick Joyce dishing out a career-high eight assists.
Kiarie Patrick, Ja'Rod Webb and Isaiah Griffin each scored 18 with Tim Lofton following with 14. Lofton had eight rebounds, Jaylen Williams six assists and Vincent Rodriguez six steals.
The Tigers shot 65.7 percent from the field to Greenville's 42.6 percent and DePauw connected on 35-of-40 from the free throw line while holding a 53-27 rebounding edge.Â
DePauw's 127 points were the second-most in program history behind the 148 when the same two teams played in 2021. The Tigers' 36 assists were also the second-most in program history behind the 48 in the 2021 game with Greenville.
DePauw travels to Hope College for the Glenn Van Wieren Classic where the Tigers will face Olivet on Friday, Dec. 20, and the host Flying Dutchmen on Saturday, Dec. 21.
