Wooster, Ohio - The DePauw women's soccer team suffered its only North Coast Athletic Conference loss of the season after falling 1-0 to the College of Wooster on the road. The Tigers moved to 10-5-3 on the season, and 4-1-2 in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play. The Fighting Scots improved to 11-3-3 overall and 4-2-1 in conference play.Â
In a highly contested matchup between DePauw and Wooster, a late first-half goal by the Fighting Scots was all the host would need to hand the Tigers its first NCAC loss of the season. From the start, however, Wooster kept DePauw on its heels, putting up ten shots while giving up just four shots on its defensive end throughout the first half. In the second half, DePauw did earn three corner kick attempts. However, the Fighting Scots continued to dominate on their offensive end, putting up 12 shots despite not earning any corner kicks.
In the end the College of Wooster held a 22-11 edge in shots, while DePauw held a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks. In goals for DePauw was Aubree Empie, who finished with four saves, and Wooster's goalkeeper Kameryn Nelson finished the afternoon with five.
The Tigers finished the regular season as the two seed, and will host the third-seeded College of Wooster in the semifinal match of the NCAC tournament on Wednesday, November 6. The match is set for 7 p.m. For more NCAC tournament information, be sure to check out northcoast.org or depauwtigers.com for details.
