Greencastle, Ind. - The DePauw field hockey team beat the Transylvania University Pioneers 1-0 on senior day. The Tigers end the regular season with an overall record of 11-6 and a North Coast Athletic Conference record of 8-2. The Pioneers end the year with a season record of 7-9 and a 4-7 record in conference play.Â

After over forty minutes of scoreless play, the Tigers finally found the back of the Pioneers' cage when
Hailey Nowak took possession of the ball after a scramble in front of the goalie and chipped it past the glove of Transyvania's keeper. With over 17 minutes left in the game, DePauw continued to get looks on the cage while keeping their composure on the defensive end as time was winding down.Â

Though the Tigers outshot its opponent 26-1 and held a 17-1 advantage in penalty corners, the Pioneers' goalkeeper Libby Bringard kept Transy in the game, recording 14 saves for the day. DePauw's senior goalkeepers split time in goal for the Tigers, with
Scarlett Oaks recording one save.
Today's win solidified the Tigers' spot in the NCAC tournament as the fourth seed. DePauw travels to Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday, November 6, to take on the Battling Bishops in the semifinals at 7 p.m. Be sure to find more tournament details at
