Granville, Ohio- The DePauw men's soccer team kept its North Coast Athletic Conference tournament hopes alive after tying the top-seeded Denison University 0-0 on the road. The Tigers moved to 8-3-4 for the season and 2-1-2 in NCAC play, while the #9 Big Red are 10-1-3 overall and 5-0-1 in conference play.Â
Â
DePauw came out strong against its second top-ten opponent this year, putting pressure on midfield play and forcing Denison to play to its backline to switch the field. Despite not scoring, the two teams worked hard to get deep into each other's defensive half and secure a shot on goal.
Â
Denison finished the game outshooting DePauw 12-10, five of which were on goal, while the Tigers recorded just one shot on goal. Neither team held an edge in corners, with each team tallying two for the evening.
Sam Ortner recorded four saves across regulation, while the Big Red's Tommy Prokos tallied just one save. With tonight's tie, DePauw sits in fourth place with three more games left in the regular season.
Â
DePauw returns to Greencastle, Ind. to take on Hiram College on Saturday, October 26, for Senior Night. The Tigers and Terriers are set to play at 4 p.m.
