Thousand Oaks, Calif. - DePauw opened play in California with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-15) loss at California Lutheran. DePauw dropped to 12-7, while the Regals improved to 8-9.
Belle Shelton led DePauw with 11 kills with
Olivia Karwin and
Kendall Herrick each totaling 15 assists. Karwin,
Riley Kamer and
Grace Myers each had one ace. Myers led with 15 digs and Shelton had two blocks.
Kira Mortensen paced Cal Lutheran with 10 kills and Makenna Kawamura led with 24 assists. Alex Hayes, Tarin Rueckert and Alexis Holloway finished with two aces apiece. Keegan Corley had a team-high 25 digs and Mortensen led with five blocks.
The Regals outhit the Tigers, .304-.162 and held a 45-36 edge in kills. Cal Lutheran led in aces, 8-3 and in blocks, 8-2.
The Tigers return to play on Saturday, Oct. 19, when they travel to Whittier College to play Chapman in a 4:30 p.m. PDT match and the host Poets at 7 p.m. PDT.
