Granville, Ohio- The DePauw women's soccer team maintained its North Coast Athletic Conference unbeaten streak after finishing in a 0-0 draw against host Denison University. The Tigers moved to an overall record of 8-4-2 and are now 2-0-1 in conference play, while the Big Red moved to 7-3-3 and 2-0-1 in NCAC play.
Â
The last time these two teams played each other was the 2023 NCAC Tournament Championship game, where Denison came out on top. With the tough loss in the back of DePauw's mind, the Tigers were quickly reminded of the physicality and the offensive pressure the Big Red brought to the pitch.
Â
Denison dominated the first half, outshooting DePauw 6-0 while holding a 4-1 edge over the Tigers in corner kick attempts. Despite playing on the defensive for the majority of the game, DePauw's backline held strong and got a foot in every cross and touch made by Denison. In the second half, the Big Red continued to put up shots; however, the Tigers managed to control the pace of most of the second half, resulting in its three shot attempts.
Â
Ultimately, neither team was able to find the back of their opponent's net, despite a back-and-forth last three minutes of play. Denison finished the night outshooting DePauw 11-3 and totaled seven corner kick attempts while allowing the Tigers two. Aubrie Empie directed traffic in front of DePauw's goal and completed the evening with four saves. The Big Red split time between keepers Molly Noga and Wynne Hague, with Noga tallying one save for the night.
Â
The Tigers return to Greencastle, Ind., on Saturday, October 19, to host the Oberlin College Yeowomen in the second game of a triple-header weekend. The game is set to start at 2:30 p.m.
