Granville, Ohio- The DePauw field hockey team suffered its first North Coast Athletic Conference loss after falling to Denison University 2-1 in overtime. The Tigers dropped to 8-5 overall and 6-1 in NCAC play, while the Big Red improved to 6-6 for the season and 5-1 in conference play.

After a scoreless first half, Denison found the back of DePauw's cage following a corner attempt in the 44th minute of play. Despite being down 1-0, the Tigers kept their composure and turned up their offense in the fourth quarter. They outshot the Big Red 2-0 and earned three penalty corners while giving up none on their defensive end.

With 45 seconds left in regulation, the Tigers earned a penalty corner.

Hailey Nowak, who quickly provided a give-and-go to Morris, who chipped the ball into the back of the Big Red's cage to knot the game at one, forcing overtime. Unfortunately for DePauw, the Tigers ran out of steam, and Denison's Bella Thoms scored the game-winning goal for the Big Red in the 68th minute of play.

DePauw finished the matchup with a 6-5 shot advantage and held a 6-3 penalty corner edge over the Big Red.
Bella Lauber wrapped the evening in the cage for the Tigers with one save, while the Big Red's Athena Joannou finished with three saves.Â

The Tigers are back in action on Saturday, October 19, in Reavis Stadium. They will take on Wittenberg at 12 p.m., the first of three home matchups this Saturday.
