Greencastle, Ind.-Â Keeping its shutout streak alive, the DePauw men's soccer team defeated the Franklin College Grizzlies in a physical 1-0 home victory. The Tigers move to 3-0, while the Grizzlies fall to 0-2.
The Tigers took 2 minutes and 36 seconds to produce the game's only goal. The speed and crisp passing by DePauw in the opening minutes of the first half surprised the Grizzlies, which led to Tye Williams beating his defender down the right sideline and crossing it to Ben Weidner, who popped it up to Lalo Castellanos for his third goal in three games.
Though the Tigers outshot the Grizzlies 16-2, and attempted nine corner kicks to Franklin's three, the Grizzlies managed to hold off its hosts and give up just one goal from the first half.
Franklin's Ian Rowe and Easton Terry split time in goal, each finishing the night with two saves.
Following its 1-0 victory, the Tigers head to Decatur, Ill., on Saturday, September 9, at 2 p.m. CDT to face the Millikin University Big Blue.
