Chestertown, Md.- A late, first-period goal by Washington College was all the hosts needed in a 1-0 win over DePauw. The Tigers dropped to 0-2, while the Shorewomen improved to 2-0.
Mary Cate Anson delivered the game-winning goal for Washington, 12:32 into the contest.
The Tigers' lone shot on goal came near the end of the third period off the stick of
Lilly Harris, but goalie Catherine Parker was there for the save and preserved the shutout for the Shorewomen.
Washington outshot the Tigers, 26-3, including 13-1 on goal. The Shorewomen also held a 13-1 edge in penalty corners.
Bella Lauber recorded 12 saves for DePauw, while Parker and Charlotte Schurman split time in goal for the hosts.
DePauw travels to Sewanee, Tenn., to face the Tigers  on Saturday, Sept. 9, at 11 a.m. CDT.
