Greencastle, Ind.- After numerous weather delays and a shortened halftime, the DePauw men's soccer team held off the Flying Dutchmen of Hope College to finish in a 0-0 draw. The Tigers move to 4-3-1, while the Flying Dutchmen move to 6-1-3.
Â
Hope put the pressure on DePauw throughout the first half, recording six shots to the Tigers' two and earning two corners while giving up no corners on its defensive end.
Â
Despite the Flying Dutchmen outshooting the Tigers 8-5 in the second half, DePauw's defense, specifically goalkeeper
Sam Ortner, kept the Tigers in the game. Ortner's biggest save of the night came in the 61st minute when Ortner saved Hope's Mario Hrvojevic's penalty kick to keep the Tigers and the Flying Dutchmen knotted at zero.
Â
Ortner finished the evening with a career-high six saves, while Hope's Daniel Hesselbein finished with two saves.
Â
DePauw returns to Reavis Stadium on Saturday, September 30, to host its first NCAC opponent, Kenyon College, at 12 p.m.
