Gambier, Ohio - Host and 21st-ranked Kenyon scored the game's first three goals in the opening 4:10 and advanced to the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament championship game with an 18-6 semifinal win over DePauw. The Owls improved to 17-0, while the Tigers dropped to 11-5. DePauw, ranked third in the latest NCAA Division III Region VI rankings will await word of a possible postseason berth which will be announced on NCAA.com on Monday, May 8.
After Kenyon grabbed the quick lead, the Tigers battled back to within two at 4-2 after
Bridget Driscoll scored a pair to get DePauw on the board. The Owls closed the opening period on a 4-1 run to take an 8-3 advantage. Kenyon outscored the Tigers 5-2 in the second for a 13-5 halftime lead on the way to the win.
Driscoll led the Tigers with three goals with
Abby Keane chipping in a pair along with two assists. Caroline O'Neil paced Kenyon with four goals, while five other Owls scored two each. Tatumn Eccleston assisted on four scores.
Lydia Hollis stopped 10 Kenyon shots in goal, while Nola Garland and Delaney Gallagher each had one stop for the Owls.
Kenyon won 17 of 28 draws with Julia Losey recording 12 draw controls and Driscoll leading the Tigers with six. The Owls held a 20-13 edge in ground balls as Kenyon's Ella Murphy and Mallory Brophy each had three and
Maggie Little totaled three for DePauw. The Tigers committed 22 turnovers with Kenyon totaling just 13.
