Gambier, Ohio - DePauw totaled 25 hits and swept a North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader at Kenyon by scores of 10-2 and 10-2. The Tigers improved to 7-16 overall and 2-0 in the NCAC, while the Owls dropped to 1-21 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
In the opener, DePauw grabbed a 4-0 lead with one in the second and three in the third. The Owls closed the gap to 4-2 with a pair in the bottom of the third before the Tigers put the game away with three in the fifth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh.
DePauw pounded out 13 hits as
Katie Mathies,
Emily Timberman and
Lily Jennings totaling three each. Kenyon had 11 hits with Maddie Frye totaled three.
Kersten Brayton moved to 2-3 with four innings of scoreless relief after
Riley Magoon started and allowed two runs in three innings. Allison McCutchen dropped to 0-8.
In the nightcap, DePauw scored four in the second on in the fourth and five in the fifth with Kenyon's two runs coming in the bottom of the fifth in the game shortened due to the run rule.
Ella Ohrvall led DePauw with three of its 12 hits with Jennings and
Madi Lockridge each totaling two.
Drew Bratcher and Timberman each homered for DePauw. Two Owls had one hit each.
Megan Asher improved to 4-7 after pitching five shutout innings and striking out six with one walk. Sofia Zayas dropped to 1-8.
DePauw returns to action on Saturday, April 15, with a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Oberlin.
