Wooster, Ohio - DePauw extended its win streak to four and remained perfect in North Coast Athletic Conference play after sweeping a doubleheader at Wooster by scores of 9-4 and 12-4. The Tigers improved to 9-16 overall and 4-0 in the NCAC, while the Fighting Scots dropped to 15-11 overall and 3-3 in league play.
In the opener, Wooster took a 1-0 lead in the first before DePauw scored five in the third including two on a homer off the bat of
Katie Mathies.
Wooster closed the gap to 5-3 in the bottom of the third as Julia Jennings drove in two with a double.Â
The Tigers added three more in the fourth on
Lily Jennings' RBI single and another two-run homer by Mathies.
The hosts scored one in the fourth on a wild pitch before DePauw'sÂ
Emily Timberman wrapped up the scoring in the seventh with a solo homer.
Mathies,
Riley Heim and
Abby Pyburn each had two of DePauw's 12 hits, while Stephanie Griffin-Sanchez and Jennings each had two of Wooster's seven hits.
Kersten Brayton picked up the win to improve to 3-3, while Lynnsey Delio dropped to 8-6.
In the nightcap, Timberman carried the momentum into the first inning with a two-run single before
Madi Lockridge made it 3-0 with a single in the opening frame.
Lily Jennings drove in one with a single in the second before
Yasmin McClellan made it 6-0 with a two-run single.
Wooster reached the board in the bottom of the second on Ella Wolff's two-run double. In the third, Julia Jennings plated one with a single and Kaydee Clark scored one with a double to make it 6-4.
DePauw put the game away with one in the fourth, two in the fifth, one in the sixth and another two in the seventh.
Lily Jennings and Ella Ohrval each had three of DePauw's 18 hits with
Goose Moore, Mathies and Lockridge followed with two each.
Julia Jennings had four of Wooster's nine hits and Ciara Herbert added two.
Megan Asher improved to 5-7 after pitching 4 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. Rachael Dudziak dropped to 4-2.
The Tigers return to action tomorrow with a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Oberlin.
