Tigers Fall to Owls 11-3 on the Road

Gambier, Ohio-In its second conference matchup of the season, the DePauw men's lacrosse team fell to Kenyon College 11-3. The Tigers drop to 5-5 for the season and 0-2 in NCAC play, while the Owls improve to 9-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
 
Kenyon's Rollins Heath jump-started the Owls' offense with his first goal of the afternoon coming just two minutes into the first period. Kenyon tacked on three more goals throughout the first period to take a commanding 4-0 lead heading into the second.
 
After the Owls extended its lead to six, with just 2:41 remaining in the first half, Henry White found Collin Kilpatrick to get the Tigers on the board. Down 6-1 heading into the third, Kenyon held DePauw to just four shots while putting up eight of their own. Across the third and fourth periods, the Owls lead ballooned to as much as ten, but two late goals by Kilpatrick and Connor Gibson, both of which were assisted by Jack Flynn, cut Kenyon's lead to eight.
 
Kenyon outshot DePauw, 42-22, and held a 47-25 edge in ground balls. The Owls were 14-18 in won faceoffs, winning 11 of Kenyon's faceoffs was Thomas Nelson, and the Tigers' Jack Kneisley won four for DePauw. In goal, Anthony Reinhardt totaled 14 saves for DePauw, and Kenyon's goalie Adam Hall finished with eight saves, while teammate Ryan Matarese tallied three more for the afternoon.
 
Kilpatrick led the Tigers with two goals, while Gibson scored one. Flynn led DePauw with two assists, while Matthew Garrigan totaled three caused turnovers. Hill Carter of Kenyon led the Owls with three goals, and teammate Rollins Heath put in two more. The Owls' Gavin Gumucio recorded two assists for the afternoon.
 
DePauw returns to Greencastle, Ind., and hosts Wabash College on Tuesday, April 11. The game starts at 5 p.m. between the Tigers and the Little Giants.
