Tigers Fall to #21 Owls

Greencastle, Ind. - On an afternoon that included a nearly two-hour lightning delay, DePauw fell to 21st-ranked Kenyon by a 20-4 score in the final North Coast Athletic Conference contest for both schools. The Tigers dropped to 11-4 overall and finished NCAC play at 3-3, while the Owls improved to 16-0 overall and 6-0 in conference play. The two teams will square off in the NCAC semifinal round with a 4 p.m. game at Kenyon on Wednesday, May 3.

The Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Abby Keane and Bria Randolph, but Kenyon closed the opening period with six straight scores. The Owls added two more in the second before lightning forced the teams off the field with Kenyon leading 8-2.

When they returned Kenyon outscored the Tigers, 3-2, for an 11-4 halftime lead. The guests outscored DePauw, 9-0, over the final 30 minutes to wrap up the win.

Keane and Randolph each scored two goals for the Tigers, while Caroline O'Neil led the Owls with five and Mallory Brophy followed with four.

DePauw's Lydia Hollis recorded 11 saves, while Nola Garand and Delaney Gallagher each had five stops for Kenyon.

Bridget Driscoll paced DePauw with eight draw controls and Marley Heitman had three ground balls. Emily Napier and Graesen Campbell each caused two turnovers.

Julia Losey led Kenyon with 10 draw controls with Brophy and O'Neil each recording four ground balls. Four different Owls finished with two ground balls each.

Kenyon outshot DePauw, 38-20, and committed just 11 turnovers to the Tigers' 17. The Owls held a 14-13 advantage in draw controls and 21-8 in ground balls.
