Gambier, Ohio - DePauw dropped to 11-21 overall and 3-9 in North Coast Athletic Conference play following a doubleheader loss at Kenyon by scores of 15-5 and 13-7. The Owls improved to 19-12 overall and 6-6 in conference play.
In the opener, Kenyon jumped out to a 4-0 lead before DePauw evened the score with four in the fourth. The Owls, however, added three each in the fourth and fifth innings. Each scored one run in the seventh, but Kenyon ended the game due to the run rule with a four-run bottom of the eighth.
Danny Sheehan had two of DePauw's six hits, while Drew Robinson led Kenyon with three. Malcolm Gaynor and Niko Price each homered for the Owls who finished with five extra-base hits.
Frank Lynch improved to 4-1 for Kenyon, while
Michael Vallone dropped to 2-2.
In game two, DePauw took a 1-0 lead in the second on
Carter Knoll's RBI double, but Kenyon scored five in the second and two in the third for a 7-1 lead.
In the fourth,
Cameron Macon delivered a two-run single and
Danny Glimco hit a two-run homer to close the gap to 7-5, but Gaynor's two-run shot led a three-run Kenyon fifth which gave the Owls a 10-5 advantage.Â
Kenyon extended the lead to 12-5 in the sixth before the Tigers scored two in the eighth and the Owls countered with one in the bottom of the frame.
Knoll had four of DePauw's 15 hits, while Macon added three and
Nate Curtis two. Glimco's homer was his ninth of the season which matched his 2022 total and he moved into a tie for third on DePauw's career list with 18.
Edwin Goff had five of Kenyon's 15 hits with Price, Ben Zimmerman and Nate Rosen each totaling two. Gaynor, Zimmerman and Rosen each homered.
Griffin Albright dropped to 0-4, while Andrew Catron improved to 1-3.
The Tigers travel to Tiffin, Ohio, tomorrow to face Heidelberg in a 1 p.m. single game.
