Greencastle, Ind. - Visiting Ohio Wesleyan scored the game's first three goals and never trailed on the way to a 13-6 North Coast Athletic Conference win over DePauw. The Tigers dropped to 9-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference while the Battling Bishops improved to 9-4 overall and 2-1 in NCAC play.
Three different Ohio Wesleyan players scored in a 1:42 stretch midway through the first period before
Emily Napier scored and
Caleigh Claar added a goal with 9:29 left in the second. Ohio Wesleyan made it 4-2 with a goal later in the second.
The Battling Bishops outscored DePauw, 4-0, in the third to extend the lead to 8-2 and the Tigers got no closer than four the rest of the game.
Bridget Driscoll paced DePauw with two goals and four caused turnovers, while
Bria Randolph had six ground balls and Claar had seven draw controls.
Grace Egan led Ohio Wesleyan with four goals and Caroline Fleming added three along with a team-best four assists. Abbie Grogan caused four turnovers, while Sophia Delgallo and Abby Markowitz had five ground balls apiece and Sarah Hanley totaled three draw controls.
Lydia Hollis recorded 12 saves in goal for DePauw, while Markowitz had 14 for the Battling Bishops.
Ohio Wesleyan outshot DePauw, 35-31, and held a 28-20 edge in ground balls. DePauw led in draw controls, 17-5, and committed 24 turnovers to the Battling Bishops' 20.
DePauw returns to action on Wednesday, April 19, with a 4:30 p.m. game at Denison.
