Oberlin, Ohio - After losing in walk-off fashion, 5-4, in the opener, DePauw came back for a 6-4 win in the nightcap and a split of the North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader. DePauw moved to 10-17 overall and 5-1 in the NCAC, while the Yeowomen are now 8-20 overall and 3-5 in conference play.
In the opener, DePauw took a 1-0 lead in the first on
Emily Minett's RBI single. Oberlin matched that in the bottom of the first as Kailey Dunham drove in a run with a single.
The Tigers regained the lead in the fourth as
Kelsey Bernhard reached on a fielder's choice that allowed
Emily DuMais to cross home. Kathryn Beeman's RBI single in the bottom of the fourth evened the score.
In the fifth, Minett reached on an error that allowed two to score and give DePauw a 4-2 lead.
Oberlin added a single run in the sixth before tying the contest in the seventh on Mia Brito's RBI single and winning it when Loren Carter doubled home Katie Austin.
Goose Moore had three of DePauw's nine hits, while
Hanna Coffel added two. Maria Chutko and Brito each had three hits with Haley Bartsch finishing with two.
Megan Asher took the loss and dropped to 5-8, while Hailey Alspach improved to 5-9.
In the nightcap, Oberlin took a 3-0 lead in the third before
Ella Ohrvall drove in
Callie Rheinheimer in the third with a grounder. Oberlin extended its lead to 4-1 in the fourth with Austin's RBI single.Â
DePauw closed the gap to 4-2 in the fifth with an unearned run and Rheinheimer blasted a grand slam in the sixth to give the Tigers the lead for good.
Rheinheimer had three of DePauw's six hits with
Ella Kuenster adding two. Bartsch and Beeman each had two of Oberlin's eight hits.
Asher improved to 6-8 with four scoreless innings of relief work while Austin dropped to 4-10.
DePauw returns to action on Saturday, April 22, when it opens the home portion of its schedule with an NCAC doubleheader against Wittenberg.
