Oberlin, Ohio - Oberlin jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the opening 10 minutes on the way to a 21-9 North Coast Athletic Conference win over DePauw. The Tigers dropped to 6-6 overall and 1-3 in the NCAC, while the Yeomen improved to 7-5 overall and 3-2 in the conference.
After trailing 5-1 after the first period, DePauw closed the gap to 6-4 in the first minutes of the second period, but the hosts took an 11-5 lead into the halftime. The Yeomen expanded the margin to 18-6 in the final minute of the third and sealed the win.
Beckett Tasker led DePauw with five goals and
Jack Flynn added two.
Matthew Roman won 11-of-20 faceoffs for DePauw and led with eight ground balls.
Nick Weyhmueller had a team-best three caused turnovers.
Ryan Blasberg led Oberlin with seven goals and Jacob Starcke followed with four. Hal Nathan won 15-of-27 faceoffs with Kiernan Stone leading the way with 10 ground balls. Jonas Taylor Lillquist had a team-high four caused turnovers.
Anthony Reinhardt stopped 14 shots in goal for DePauw, while Jake Pillsbury had seven for Oberlin and Justin Bader added six.
Oberlin outshot DePauw, 62-34, and held a 49-36 edge in ground balls. DePauw committed 28 turnovers to Oberlin's 22.
DePauw returns to action on Wednesday, April 19, when it hosts Denison at 7 p.m.
