Naperville, Ill.- The DePauw men's tennis team earned its first win of the 2022-23 season after beating the North Central College Cardinals 6-3 on the road. The Tigers improved to 1-3 for the season, while the Cardinals dropped to 7-3 for the season.

To kick off doubles play, the Cardinals got on the board first after North Central's Matt Sengphommachanh and Colten Way beat
Finley Buelte and
Jake Watson 8-3 on court three. The Tigers knotted the score at one when
Ryan McCook and
Thomas Partridge defeated Guillermo Gonzalez Fernandez and Ramon Vilarroig Martinez 8-4 on court one. DePauw won the final doubles match on court two, where
Cole Metzger and
Hudson Mosher beat Brayden Kopp and Javier Suarez Balsera 8-6.

In singles play, Metzger extended the Tigers' lead 3-1 after beating Colten Way 6-1, 6-3 on court five.
Jake Louiselle defeated Gonzalez Fernandez 6-2, 6-2 on court four, and on court three, McCook fell to Sengphommachanh 7-5, 6-4.Â

With a 4-2 lead over the Cardinals, DePauw solidified its win over North Central after Buelte beat Suarez Balsera 6-4,4-6, 6-2. In the remaining matches, Vilarroig Martinez defeated Partridge 6-4,6-6, 1-0 on court one, and on court six,
Grayson Zylstra beat Brayden Kopp 6-3, 6-4.
