San Antonio, Texas - DePauw scored in five of seven innings and snapped its seven-game losing streak with an 8-4 win at Trinity. The Tigers improved to 5-13, while Trinity dropped to 5-20.
Katie Mathies gave DePauw a 1-0 lead in the second with a leadoff homer. The lead was short-lived as Trinity scored three in the bottom of the second. Marina Delaluna led off by being hit by a pitch and advanced to third on a pair of ground outs. Carsyn Lee then singled, scoring Delaluna. After Jordan Arce walked, a wild pitch moved the runners to second and third. Angela Baltzell delivered a two-run single to give the hosts a 3-1 lead.
DePauw evened the score in the third as
Abby Pyburn reached on an error and moved to second on
Riley Heim's sacrifice bunt.
Emily Timberman singled, moving Pyburn to third.
Ella Ohrvall replaced Timberman as a pinch-runner and stole second before
Lily Jennings drove in a pair with a single to even the score at 3-3.
Trinity regained the lead in the bottom of the third as Dawson Dabboussi singled with one out and scored on Jordyn Williams' two-out double down the left field line.
DePauw loaded the bases in the fourth as
Ashtyn Barnett walked and
Alyssa Anderson and
Goose Moore each singled.
Callie Rheinheimer hit into a double play that allowed
Kelsey Bernhard to score.
Ohrvall led off the DePauw fifth with a double and moved to third on Mathies' single.
Hanna Coffel ran for Mathies and Jennings reached on a sacrifice bunt that allowed Ohrvall to score. After a wild pitch allowed Coffel and Jennings each to move up a base, Bernhard drove them in with a single to give DePauw a 7-4 lead. The Tigers added their final run in the sixth as
Drew Bratcher walked with one out and moved to second on Coffel's single. Jennings drove in Bratcher with a single down the left field line.
Mathies and Jennings each had two of DePauw's 11 hits with Jennings driving in four. Williams, Lee and Baltzell each had two of Trinity's seven hits.
Megan Asher picked up the relief win to improve to 3-4 after allowing just one hit and striking out four in 3 2/3 innings. Trinity's Boettcher took the loss and dropped to 1-9.
DePauw travels to Bloomington, Ill., where they'll face Wisconsin-Stout on Saturday, April 1, in a 2:30 p.m. CDT contest.
