Georgetown, Texas - Host Southwestern scored one in the first and three in the second on the way to an 8-1 win over DePauw. The Tigers dropped to 5-9, while the Pirates improved to 17-4 with their eighth straight win.
Southwestern led 5-0 after six innings before the Tigers reached the scoreboard in the seventh.
Nate Curtis led off with a walk and pinch-runner
Nate Hulen advanced to second on
Danny Sheehan's grounder before
Drew Straub walked and
Hunter Hrbek singled to load the bases.
Tyler Gilmore then drove in Hulen with a single to center.
The Pirates added one in the seventh and two more in the eighth.
Carter Knoll and Hrbek each had two of DePauw's six hits. Trent Raschke led Southwestern with four of its 12 hits, while Josh Endo and Christian Melillo each had two.Â
Griffin Albright dropped to 0-2 with the loss, while Trey Dees improved to 1-0.
DePauw faces Texas Lutheran in a 3 p.m. CDT doubleheader tomorrow.
