DePauw Falls Twice to Texas Lutheran

Seguin, Texas - Host Texas Lutheran swept a doubleheader from DePauw, winning 9-0 and 21-11 in seven innings. The Tigers dropped to 5-11, while the Bulldogs improved to 12-12.

In the opener, Texas Lutheran jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first and then added one in the fourth, three in the fifth and one more in the sixth.

Aidan Howard and Eli Bell had DePauw's only hits, while Kyle Gates, Carson Draehn and Tyler Post each had two of the Bulldogs' 10.

Pearse Riendeau dropped to 0-1, while Adam Peavy improved to 1-0.

In the nightcap, DePauw took an early 2-0 lead on Danny Glimco's two-run double in the first, but the Bulldogs scored seven in the first and two in the second for a 9-1 lead.

DePauw's Tyler Gilmore drew a bases loaded walk in the third which scored Carter Knoll before Texas Lutheran scored four in the bottom of the fourth for a 13-3 advantage.

Hunter Hrbek's sacrifice fly in the fifth plated Cameron Macon, but the Bulldogs added three in the sixth for a 16-4 lead.

DePauw closed the gap to 16-11 with a seven-run seventh which included Macon's RBI double, three bases loaded walks and an RBI ground out by Ben Greiner. A wild pitch allowed Joey Webster to score and a failed pickoff throw brought home Sheehan.

The Bulldogs took advantage of two DePauw errors in the bottom of the seventh and scored five times to end the contest due to the run-rule.

Macon had four of DePauw's 10 hits, while Knoll and Glimco each had two. Asher Bonnell and Niko Garcia each had three of the Bulldogs' 16 hits.

Cameron Hawk took the loss on the mound with Johnny Garza Jr., collecting the win.

DePauw opens North Coast Athletic Conference play on Tuesday, April 4, with a Noon doubleheader at Wabash.

I chose DePauw because I have heard nothing but amazing things about the school and the people here. On my visit, I fell in love with the campus and everything the school has to offer. The cherry on top is being able to continue on my baseball career.
