Mount Berry, Ga.- The DePauw women's lacrosse team keeps rolling after beating the Berry College Vikings 17-6 on the road. With its sixth straight win, the Tigers improved to 7-1 for the season and handed the Vikings its second loss of the season.
Three minutes into the first period, the Tigers jumped to a 3-0 lead after capitalizing on its first free position attempt of the night and two quick draw control wins.
Bria Randolph put in DePauw's first goal off a free position shot, followed by Randolph finding
Graesen Campbell for goal number two. Just a minute after Campbell's goal,
Bridget Driscoll slipped a pass to
Emily Napier for the Tigers' third goal of the game.
DePauw would go up 4-0 with 7:05 remaining in the first before the Vikings would go on a 3-0 run to cut the Tigers' lead to just one. In the second period, however, DePauw outscored Berry 4-1 to take an 8-4 lead heading into the half. The Tigers continued its offensive dominance in the second half of play, putting in nine more goals while giving up just two on the other end.
Napier led the Tigers' offense, who finished the night with five goals and an assist; Campbell added four goals, and Driscoll put in three.
Abby Keane recorded two goals and three assists for the evening, while
Ally Black,
Bella Zalewski, and Randolph put in a goal for DePauw. Randolph led the team with four assists.
Lydia Hollis recorded 11 saves for the day, while Berry's Kristina Jones dropped to 10-2 for the season and tallied six saves.
DePauw held a 29-22 advantage in shots, with the Vikings and the Tigers committing 33 and 29 turnovers, respectively. The Tigers held a tight 14-13 draw control edge, with Driscoll grabbing 10, and Berry's Haley Larsen led her team with four draw controls. DePauw led in ground balls, 27-25.
The Tigers are back in action on Wednesday, March 29, where they will face Sewanee in Sewanee, Tenn., at 6 p.m. CDT.
