Marshall, Texas - DePauw held leads in both ends of a doubleheader at seventh-ranked East Texas Baptist University, but the host Tigers swept by scores on 8-2 and 6-5. DePauw dropped to 4-11, while ETBU improved to 18-4.
In the opener, the teams battled through three scoreless innings before DePauw struck first in the fourth.
Goose Moore led off with a bunt single, moved to second on
Ella Ohrvall's sacrifice bunt and scored on
Emily Timberman's single. Tauryn Cummings hit a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth to even the score at 1-1.
ETBU broke the game open in the bottom of the fifth as it sent 12 batters to the plate and scored six runs.
DePauw's
Madi Lockridge drew a bases loaded walk in the sixth, but the hosts matched that with Jalen Perez's sacrifice fly which plated Scarlett Perez.
Moore had two of DePauw's four hits, while Maddox, Delanie Loya and Jalen Perez each had two of ETBU's nine hits.
Megan Asher took the loss in the circle for DePauw with Hannah Kelley taking the win.
In the nightcap, ETBU scored a pair in the first as Courtney White tripled home Tristen Maddox and scored on Loya's single.
DePauw's
Ashtyn Barnett doubled in the third and scored when Moore reached on an error. Moore came home on
Emily Timberman's single and
Drew Bratcher later doubled home
Riley Heim and Timberman to give the Tigers a 4-2 lead.
Ashley Croft singled home White in the bottom of the third to cut the lead to 4-3 and they added one more in the fourth.
Loya's RBI double in the fifth and Cummings' run-scoring single pushed the hosts lead to 6-4.
Callie Rheinheimer drove in
Abby Pyburn with a single in the sixth but that wrapped up the scoring.
Moore and
Macey Cox each had two of DePauw's eight hits, while Loya had two of ETBU's nine.
Kersten Brayton took the loss, while Croft was the winner.
DePauw travels to fourth-ranked Texas Lutheran on Wednesday, March 29, for a 4 p.m. CDT doubleheader.
