Atlanta, Ga.- Â In its first match of Spring Break, the DePauw women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 loss to the Eagles of Emory University. The Tigers move to 4-11 for the season, while the Eagles improve to 6-3 overall.

In doubles, Emory jumped to an early lead over DePauw, earning its first point on court three, where the Eagles' Eliza McPherron and Iras Berman beat
Alex Preston and
Valerie Doherty 8-0. On court two, Emory's Alexa Goetz and Izzy Antanvicius defeated
Ellen Gardner and
Kat Wilder 8-6, followed by
Kiley Shaw and
Sonal Matta, falling to Ana Cristina Perez and Emily Kantrovitz 8-4 on court one.

With a three-match lead, the Eagles continued to roll in singles matches. On court four, Doherty fell to Berman 6-1, 6-0; on court one, Emory's Stephanie Shulman beat Gardner 6-1, 6-0 to clinch the victory for the Eagles. In the remaining matches, McPherron defeated Wilder 6-1, 6-0 on court three, and
Franny Werner fell to Antanavicius 6-1, 6-1 on six. In the afternoon's final two matches, Goetz beat Shaw 6-1, 6-1 on court five, while Matta fell to Kantrovitz 7-5, 6-0 on court two.

DePauw's next matchup is set for Saturday, April 1, at the College of Wooster, where the Fighting Scots and Tigers will take to the courts at 1 p.m. EDT.
