Greencastle, Ind.-Â The DePauw women's tennis team beat Marian University (Ind.) 5-4 in a tightly contested matchup between the two teams. DePauw moves to 3-9 overall, while the Knights fall to 14-6 for the season.

The Tigers swept doubles play against the Knights, taking an early 3-0 lead over Marian.
Ellen Gardner and
Kat Wilder led the charge for DePauw, beating Marian's Dana Savarino and Isadora Muller 8-2 on court two.
Alex Preston and
Valerie Doherty followed suit, defeating Josie Yarbrough and Tea Vrkic 8-6 on court three.
Kiley Shaw and
Sonal Matta completed the sweep for DePauw after beating Betija Dusele and Katharina Bopst 8-7 (9-7) on court one.

 The Knights found their footing in singles play and tied the two teams at three matches apiece, forcing the two teams to battle for the clinching match. Marian's Vrkic earned the first-afternoon win for the Knights with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over
Franny Werner on court six. On court five, Shaw fell to Marian's Joelle Leihbacher 6-4, 6-1, followed by Savarino beating the Tigers' Doherty 6-2, 6-1.

Tied at three, Gardner put DePauw back in the lead after beating Dusele 6-4, 6-2 on court one. Matta would clinch the win for the Tigers on court two, beating Bopst 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. In the afternoon's final match, Wilder and Muller traded points on court three. Ultimately Muller strung together a late rally in the tie-breaker and beat Wilder 1-6, 7-6, 11-9, taking on one more win for the Knights.

The Tigers return to the ITT on Saturday, March 18, at 1 p.m. for Senior Day, where DePauw will host Grace College (Ind.).
