Lexington, Ky. - DePauw dropped to 4-6 on the season after losing games to Wisconsin-Oshkosh (3-2) and Transylvania (5-3).
In the Wisconsin-Oshkosh game, the teams battled through three scoreless innings before
Cameron Macon led off with a single and scored on
Danny Glimco's double to center.
The Titans evened the count in the fifth as Mason Kirchberg led off with a double, moved to third on Connor Giusti's single and scored on Chase Marsh's sacrifice fly.
DePauw regained the lead in the seventh as
Danny Sheehan led off with a single and moved to second on a passed ball.
Drew Straub's single moved Sheehan to third before
Kyle Boyer reached on a fielder's choice that scored Sheehan.
Wisconsin-Oshkosh tied the game in the eighth as Jake Surane drew a two-out walk and scored on Matt Scherrman's double. Giusti then delivered the walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth with two outs to lift the Titans to the win.
Eight different Tigers collected one hit apiece, while Giusti had two of the Titans' six hits.
Holden Biffle dropped to 1-1 in relief of
Michael Vallone who allowed just four hits with seven strikeouts and no walks in seven innings. Logan King improved to 1-0 after pitching a scoreless ninth. LJ Waco started and struck out 13.
Against Transylvania, the Tigers took a 3-0 lead in the second as Boyer reached on an error before
Aidan Howard walked. After
Ty Sucher singled home Boyer,
Hunter Hrbek walked and Howard scored on a wild pitch.
Ben Greiner singled to load the bases and Sucher scored when
Carter Knoll grounded out.Â
The Pioneers knotted the contest at 3-3 in the bottom of the third as Braden Becker walked and stole second. Calvin Schubert reached on a bunt single and an error on the play allowed Becker to score. Schubert stole second and Austin Taylor was hit by a pitch before Trent Youngblood doubled home Schubert. Henry Mitcham plated Taylor with a sacrifice fly.
The game remained tied until the seventh when Bryce Dreher led off with a walk, stole second and moved to third on a wild pitch. Caleb Bowers walked and stole second with Dreher coming home on the play to make it 5-3.
Sucher had two of DePauw's four hits, while Schubert and Youngblood each had two of the Pioneers' five hits.
Griffin Albright dropped to 0-1 with the relief loss, while Robby Arnett improved to 1-0.
DePauw and Transylvania (5-4) square off at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow.
