Hiram, Ohio - DePauw never trailed on the way to its seventh straight win as the Tigers collected a North Coast Athletic Conference road victory by a 64-40 score at Hiram. The Tigers moved to 14-7 overall and 9-1 in NCAC play, while the Terriers dropped to 8-12 overall and 2-7 in conference play.
The Tigers closed the first period on baskets by
Moira McGinley and
Lily Huntzinger to take an 18-13 lead. DePauw stretched the margin to 11 at 24-13 after scoring the first six points of the second. Hiram used a 9-1 stretch to cut the deficit to 25-22 before DePauw pushed it back to six at 30-24 at the intermission.
Hiram was within six on two occasions, but DePauw started to stretch the lead to as much as 14 before heading to the fourth with a 44-32 lead. The Terriers opened the fourth with a three-point play, but DePauw responded with a 12-0 stretch to put the game away.
Mya Shannon led DePauw with 13 points and eight rebounds with
Riley Mont added 12 points. McGinley led with five assists.
Brooke Hickman paced Hiram with 16 points and shared the rebounding lead with Ava Mory as each grabbed seven.
DePauw shot 49.0 percent for the game to Hiram's 28 percent. Hiram outrebounded the Tigers, 28-26, but DePauw committed just nine turnovers to the Terriers' 18.
The Tigers host Denison on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 8 p.m.
