Greencastle, Ind.- In its home opener, the DePauw men's lacrosse team fell to the Ohio Northern University Polar Bears 14-1. The Tigers move to 1-1 for the season, while the Polar Bears remain undefeated for the season.
 
Ohio Northern took the lead midway through the first period, putting in five goals and holding DePauw to none in the first period. The Polar Bears would tack on two more goals in the second period going up 7-0 heading into halftime.
 
Unfortunately for DePauw, Ohio, Northern tallied five more goals in the third period; however, DePauw's 
Henry White scored the Tigers' lone goal with 5:08 left in the third period. Like the first half, the Polar Bears scored two more goals in the fourth period to solidify its 14-1 win over DePauw.
 
Ohio Northern outshot DePauw, 44 -14, held a 38-17 edge in ground balls. The Tigers were 6-16 in won faceoffs, winning all six of DePauw's faceoffs was 
Matthew Roman and Ohio Northern's Luke Dittus winning 8 -out-of-10. In goal, 
Anthony Reinhardt totaled eight saves for DePauw, and starting goalie Cole Zaferaki had four for the Polar Bears.
 
Riley O'Neal, Sebastian Michaud, Aidan Dempsy, and Ryan McClure of Ohio Northern had two goals apiece, assisting in propelling the Polar Bears past the Tigers.
 
DePauw returns to action on Tuesday, February 28, with a 7 p.m. against the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
