Greencastle, Ind. - Trailing 59-57 after Wittenberg's Cameron Harrison hit a 3-pointer with 5:40 left, DePauw scored the next 14 points over a four-minute stretch and came away with a 73-60 North Coast Athletic Conference win in Neal Fieldhouse. DePauw moved to 4-4 overall and 1-2 in the NCAC, while Wittenberg dropped to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
Cooper Horn responded to Harrison's trey with a three-point play to give DePauw a 60-59 lead.
Camden Brown expanded the lead to three with a bucket before Horn buried a three to make it 65-59 with 3:47 remaining. Brown then blocked a Wittenberg shot and Niego pushed the lead to eight with a pair of free throws. Brown's free throw and
Reph Stevenson's basket extended the Tigers' lead to 70-59 with 2:10 remaining.before Niego capped the run with a free throw.
In a first half that included six lead changes and five ties, DePauw took a 36-30 lead into the break. The Tigers extended the lead to eight early in the second half, but a 9-2 Wittenberg run trimmed the DePauw lead to 42-41. A 6-0 Wittenerg run later in the half gave the guests their first lead of the game at 48-46. A back-and-forth half followed before Horn's three-point play gave DePauw the lead for good.
Niego led DePauw with 17 points followed by Brown with 16 and Horn with 10. Stevenson and Brown each grabbed 10 rebounds in the win.
Trey Killens paced Wittenberg with 17 points and four assists and Eddie Brown added 10.
DePauw shot 48.1 percent from the field to Wittenberg's 32.8 percent and the Tigers outscored Wittenberg from the line, 19-8. DePauw head a 40-38 rebounding edge as Brown and Stevenson each grabbed 10. Niego and
Grant Gohmann each handed out three assists.
