DePauw Advances to Hasbrook Title Game with Win over Muskies

Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw made a school-record 17 3-pointers and advanced to the Amy Hasbrook Memorial Tournament championship game with an 87-31 win over Lakeland. The Tigers improved to 7-4 and face Franklin in tomorrow's 4 p.m. title game after the Grizzlies defeated Lake Forest, 96-64, in today's second game. Lakeland dropped to 3-7 and takes on Lake Forest tomorrow at 2 p.m. Tournament information is available here.

The Tigers never trailed in the game and expanded a 10-9 lead to 41-9 by scoring 31 straight points to finish the opening period and start the second. The Tigers took a 47-15 lead into the halftime and pushed it to 69-25 after three periods. DePauw's largest lead came at 87-29 with 2:05 remaining.

Ava Hassel led DePauw with 13 points and six assists, while Riley Mont and Tori Allen each added 10.points. Olivia Hart snagged five rebounds in the victory. In all, 14 players scored for the Tigers.

Jenna Shea paced the Muskies with eight points, while Dani Damrow and Lauryn Johnson grabbed five rebounds apiece. 

DePauw shot a season-high 51.5 percent from the floor and hit a program-record 17 3-pointers in 37 attempts breaking the previous mark of 15. Lakeland connected on 31.0 percent from the floor and hit 3-of-15 from beyond the arc. 

The Tigers outrebounded Lakeland, 38-26, and committed 15 turnovers to the Muskies' 30. 

In the afternoon's second game, four Franklin players scored in double figures led by Taylor Cooney's 19, while CiCi Bailey grabbed 11 rebounds. Maurissa Edwards paced Lake Forest with 17 points, while Rylie Crecelius hauled down seven rebounds.
