Box Score Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw outscored Calvin, 51-24, over the middle two periods and advanced to the DePauw Invitational championship game after a 76-48 victory over the Knights. The win also marked the 700th career victory for head coach
Kris Huffman.
The Tigers improved to 1-1 on the season, while Calvin dropped to 2-1. DePauw hosts Millikin in tomorrow's 6 p.m. championship game after the Big Blue topped Otterbein in tonight's second game, 86-43. Calvin and Otterbein square off in tomorrow's 4 p.m. third-place game.
DePauw took a 14-12 lead into the second quarter before Calvin opened the period with a 7-2 run to take a 19-16 advantage. The Tigers scored the next five and took the lead for good. DePauw closed the period with a 13-5 stretch to take a 36-26 lead into the intermission.
A 17-4 Tigers run in the third stretched a 12-point lead to 25 as DePauw outscored the guests, 29-10, in the quarter. The Tigers hit 11-of-17 field goal tries in the period.
Moira McGinley paced DePauw with 14 points and
Riley Mont followed with 13 points, nine rebounds and three assists.
Emma White led Calvin with 15 points, while RyAnn Rohrer had five rebounds and Chloe Wiegers dished out three assists.
DePauw shot 43.1 percent from the field to Calvin's 32.7 percent and the Tigers held a 42-30 rebounding edge.
In the second game of the evening, Millikin jumped out to a 19-0 lead on the way to the win. Elyce Knudsen led the Big Blue with 23 followed by Bailey Coffman with 22. Maizie King and Kyla Irby each scored six for Otterbein.
