Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw men's soccer team fell short after losing to the North Park University Vikings 1-0 at home. The Tigers drop to 4-5-2 for the season, while the Vikings improve to 8-3-1 overall.
Â
The Tigers were able to fend off the offensive onslaught of North Park for well over 80 minutes of play, staying in step with the Vikings in corner attempts and winning many of the 50-50 balls in the midfield. However, in the 86th minute of play, North Park's William De Carro broke free of his defender and found the feet of Teo Helm, who took one touch and found the back of the Tigers net to put the Vikings up 1-0.
Â
Despite being down with time ticking down, DePauw managed to get at least one more look on goal in the 88th minute following a corner. Unfortunately for the Tigers, time expired with no goal to knot the game up at one.
Â
North Park finished the afternoon outshooting DePauw 14-7 and had an edge over the Tigers in corner attempts with seven while giving up six on its defensive end.
Â
Alexander Lundin was in goal for the Tigers and tallied a save, and Alfred Swärd finished with four saves for the Vikings.
Â
DePauw returns to Reavis Stadium on Tuesday, October 10, to host the Wittenberg University Tigers. The game between the two teams is set to start at 7 p.m.
