Greencastle, Ind.- In a tightly contested matchup, the DePauw men's soccer team came from behind twice to finish in a 2-2 draw against the Wittenberg University Tigers. The DePauw Tigers moved to 4-5-3 overall and 0-1-2 in conference play, while the Wittenberg Tigers moved to 6-2-3 for the season and 1-1-1 in North Coast Athletic Conference play.

Despite DePauw's 8-2 shot advantage in the first half, the Wittenberg Tigers got on the board first when Nick Harding tucked a ball just past
Alexander Lundin in the 28th minute. Down 1-0 at the start of the second half, the DePauw Tigers found its first equalizer in the 47th minute, following some quick footwork and a powerful release by
Tye Williams.

The two teams would remain knotted up at one until the 69th minute when Kyler Hagstrom managed to chip the ball into the back of DePauw's net following an unsuccessful clear by the DePauw Tigers defense. Down once again, DePauw turned up its offensive pressure and capitalized on a scramble in front of Wittenberg's net following a corner. A redirected header by
Lalo Castellanos eventually led to the ball falling into the feet of
Alex Backhaus, who took two touches to get it into the back of Wittenberg's net to tie the game at two.Â

With just under 20 minutes left in regulation, the two teams battled for possession and the last look on goal; however, neither team managed to pull ahead.

DePauw wrapped the evening holding an edge over Wittenberg in both shots and corner kick attempts, outshooting the Wittenberg Tigers 16-7 and earning three corners while giving up just two, all of which occurred in the second half.

In goal for DePauw, Lundin finished the evening with one save, while Wittenberg's Sam Nitzberg tallied three saves for the night.

DePauw's next game is Saturday, October 14, in Oberlin, Ohio, where the Tigers will take on the Yeomen at 2:30 p.m.
