Greencastle, Ind. - The Tigers needed to defeat Wooster to earn a spot in the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament and they did just that with a 3-0 victory over the Fighting Scots. DePauw moved to 7-6-4 overall and 3-2-3 in the NCAC, while Wooster dropped to 6-8-3 overall and 3-4-1 in conference play. With the win, DePauw earned the fourth-seed in the NCAC Tournament and opens semifinal play on Wednesday, Nov. 1, with a 2:30 p.m. game at Kenyon.
Ethan Webster gave the Tigers the early 1-0 lead as he scored just 2:47 into the contest.
Matthew Fogo then chipped in a pair of goals with the first coming on
Ben Weidner's assist at 35:52 and the second at 56:53 on assists from
Alec McCarty and
Alex Backhaus.
Wooster outshot DePauw, 11-10, while DePauw held a 4-3 edge in shots on goal. Wooster also led in corners, 8-7.
Alexander Lundin recorded three saves in goal for DePauw, while Gabriel Thomas totaled one for the Fighting Scots.
