Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Tigers Draw with Battling Bishops on the Road

Delaware, Ohio- The DePauw women's soccer team held off a barrage of scoring opportunities by the Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops to finish in a 1-1 draw on the road in its second-to-last North Coast Athletic Conference matchup. The Tigers move to 9-3-5 overall and 2-1-3 in NCAC play, while the Battling Bishops move to 9-5-3 for the season and 4-1-1 in conference play.

The Tigers struck first, with a 25-yard shot across the field by Annalise Grammel in the ninth minute of play. DePauw would hold onto its lead for under four minutes before the Battling Bishops Tiffany Trinh gathered a pass from Ava Bruns and scored to knot the game at one.

For the remainder of the first half, Ohio Wesleyan outshot DePauw 14-5 and tallied six corners while giving up none on its defensive end. Despite the lopsided first half, the Tiger came out energized in the second half and were barely outshot by the Battling Bishops and earned one corner kick while giving up just two to Ohio Wesleyan.

The Battling Bishops finished with 22 shots to the Tigers 11 and recorded an 8-1 advantage over DePauw in corner kicks. In goal for the Tigers' Aubree Empie totaled six saves for the night, while Ohio Wesleyan's Natalie Ryan totaled four.

The Tigers return to Reavis Stadium on Saturday, October 28, to host the College of Wooster Fighting Scots at 3 p.m. for Family Weekend.

I chose DePauw because the campus was beautiful and had the perfect combination of athletics and academics.

I chose DePauw for a number of different reasons. First, the University takes academics very seriously and wants their students to excel. I am looking to study in the field of chemistry and believe that DePauw's math and science programs are recognized for their high quality education. I also love the liberal arts style for a school, where I can explore other opportunities and expand my areas of interest. I was recruited by several Division I soccer programs, but decided to play at DePauw, because I really liked the coach and the team, and DePauw will provide me the opportunity to play soccer but also will allow me to enjoy the full college experience.
