Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw needed a win over Wooster to earn a spot in next week's North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament as
Annalise Grammel's penalty kick lifted the Tigers past the Fighting Scots, 1-0.
The Tigers improved to 10-3-5 overall and 3-1-3 in the NCAC, while the Fighting Scots dropped to 11-3-3 overall and 3-3-1 in the conference. With the win, DePauw earned the number-three seed in the NCAC Tournament and will travel to Ohio Wesleyan on Thursday, Nov. 2, for a 7 p.m. semifinal game.
The foul that set up the penalty kick came in the 72nd minute when DePauw's
Peyton Howard was knocked down in the box.
DePauw outshot Wooster, 14-4 and held a 8-2 edge in shots on goal. The Tigers also led in corners, 14-4.
Aubree Empie recorded the shutout in goal for DePauw with two saves. Kameryn Nelson had three saves in the first half for Wooster, with Amanda Flory totaling four in the second half.
