Danville, Ky.- The DePauw field hockey team didn't find its footing in time in its 6-3 loss to the University of Mary Washington. The Tigers drop to 10-6 for the season, while the Eagles improve to 10-7 overall.

Mary Washington jumped onto the board early, scoring two first-quarter goals just six minutes from each other. The first goal for the Eagles was an unassisted goal by Grayson Scott at the 3-minute mark, followed by Monique Lipton's goal in the 9th minute. In the 22nd minute, Lipton found Scott inside the striking circle to put Mary Washington up 3-0.Â

In the third quarter, the Eagles extended their lead over the Tigers to five, with Scott earning her third for the day and Emma Bernard putting in the fifth goal for Mary Washington. DePauw's
Hailey Radford would finally put the Tigers on the board following an slip pass from
Hailey Nowak in the 43rd minute.

The Eagles would go up 6-1 following a goal by Olivia Perrin before Nowak put in back-to-back goals to cut Mary Washington's lead in half.

Despite the score, Mary Washington had a slight edge over DePauw in shots and penalty corners. The Eagles outshot the Tigers 16-11 and earned seven penalty corner attempts while giving up just five on the other end.

In the cage for DePauw, both
Bella Lauber and
Scarlett Oaks finished the afternoon with three saves after splitting time. Mary Washington's Bailey McNabb played 48 minutes in the cage for the Eagles and finished with five saves, while teammate Erin Roy spent 12 minutes in the cage and tallied three saves.

DePauw travels to Lexington, Kentucky, to face Transylvania on Saturday, October 28, at 12 p.m. for its final regular season matchup.
