Greencastle, Ind.- A late goal in the 88th minute lifted the DePauw women's soccer team past the Kenyon College Owls in its 1-0 home victory. The Tigers improve to 9-3-4 for the season and 2-1-2 in North Coast Athletic Conference play, while the Owls drop to 6-4-5 overall and 1-3-1 in conference play.
Â
DePauw had two chances to get on the board in the first half of play. The first came in the 20th minute when a shot off the post bounced just outside the goal line, and in the 42nd minute, a missed penalty kick led to the two teams tied at zero heading into halftime.
Â
Despite only putting up four shots and two corners, DePauw pushed play into midfield and back into its offensive third for most of the second half. The Tigers' pressure eventually paid off when
Annalise Grammel slipped past her defender and floated a ball to a crashing
Sophia Patrey for the game-winning goal. With under two minutes left in the game, DePauw held off Kenyon, recording its eighth shutout of the season and keeping its unbeaten home record alive.
Â
The Tigers held an edge over the Owls in shots and corner kick attempts, outshooting Kenyon 12-4 and tallying six corners while giving up just one on its defensive end. In goal for DePauw,
Aubree Empie finished the day with one save, while the Owls' Ariel Kite recorded three.

DePauw's next game is on the road, where they will travel to Delaware, Ohio, to face Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday, October 25, at 7 p.m.
