DePauw Drops First NCAC Game

Springfield, Ohio - DePauw suffered its first North Coast Athletic Conference loss of the season after dropping a 3-2 contest at Wittenberg. The visiting Tigers dropped to 8-3-4 overall and 1-1-2 in the NCAC, while Wittenberg improved to 4-6-5 overall and 2-1-1 in conference play.

Wittenberg's Alex Hill put the hosts on the board in the 10th minute with an assist from Ava Otey before Peyton Howard evened the count at 25:16.

The host Tigers grabbed the lead less than three minutes before halftime as Emma Lindsey scored with an assist from Brooke Mullis.

Wittenberg extended the lead to 3-1 just after the intermission as Grace Koperna scored. The two-goal advantage held until the 85th minute when Macy Happe struck a free kick from outside the left side of the box which found the upper right corner of the goal.

DePauw outshot Wittenberg, 18-11, including 15-4 on goal. The guests also held a 5-2 edge in corners.

Aubree Empie recorded one save in goal for the Tigers, while Lily Winkle totaled 13 for Wittenberg.

DePauw hosts Kenyon on Saturday, Oct. 21, in a 2:30 p.m. contest.

I chose DePauw because of the welcoming atmosphere, challenging academics, and the chance to play at a higher level in athletics.

I chose DePauw for a number of different reasons. First, the University takes academics very seriously and wants their students to excel. I am looking to study in the field of chemistry and believe that DePauw's math and science programs are recognized for their high quality education. I also love the liberal arts style for a school, where I can explore other opportunities and expand my areas of interest. I was recruited by several Division I soccer programs, but decided to play at DePauw, because I really liked the coach and the team, and DePauw will provide me the opportunity to play soccer but also will allow me to enjoy the full college experience.
