St. Louis, Mo. - DePauw opened play at the WashU Invitational with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-13) loss to the 12th-ranked hosts. The Tigers dropped to 10-8, while the Bears improved to 15-5.
WashU outhit DePauw, .316-.079 and held a 47-24 advantage in kills.
Kaiden Harrington paced DePauw with six kills, while Leah Oyewole led WashU with 12.
Olivia Karwin led the Tigers with 11 assists and shared the team lead in service aces with
Maria Stevens as each had two. WashU's Sam Buckley had a match-high 43 assists, while Elise Gilroy, Jasmine Sells and Zoe Foster had one ace each.
Grace Myers led DePauw's defensive effort with 17 digs with
Lauren Ridgway,
Katie Gansle and
Ashley Haas finishing with one block each. Sells led the Bears with 15 digs, while Lucy Davis and Foster had two blocks each.
DePauw returns to action tomorrow with a 10:30 a.m. CDT match against second-ranked Wisconsin-Oshkosh and a 12:30 p.m. CDT contest with Simpson.
