Greencastle, Ind.- Suffering its first North Coast Athletic Conference loss of the season, the DePauw field hockey team fell to Denison University 2-0 at home. The Tigers dropped to 9-4 overall and 6-1 in NCAC play, while the Big Red improved to 8-3 for the season and 7-0 in conference play.

Both teams entered the evening match vying to keep their undefeated NCAC season alive. Unfortunately for DePauw, Denison managed to jump to an early 1-0 lead in the 5th minute when the Big Red's Lila Smith gathered a pass from Kate Hinshaw for the first goal of the evening.

The Tigers would give up its second goal of the evening in the 19th minute when Denison's Tabitha Chandler capitalized on a penalty corner for the Big Red's final goal of the night.

The two teams were neck and neck throughout the game despite the result. Both teams wrapped the night with nine shots, with DePauw holding an edge over Denison in penalty corner attempts, 9-7.

Scarlett Oaks shared time in the cage for the Tigers, with Lauber tallying one save and Oaks finishing the night with two. Athena Joannou played the full 60 minutes in the cage for the Big Red and finished with two saves.Â

The Tigers' next game is Saturday, October 14, against Wittenberg University. DePauw and Wittenberg are set to play at 4 p.m.
