Greencastle, Ind. -Â Notching its second home victory of the season, the DePauw Field Hockey team shutout Sewanee 4-0 to move to 2-0 for the season.
The DePauw Tigers' first goal came late in the first quarter by Amy Apfelbaum, who gathered a pass from Tiala Ortega following a rebounded corner attempt. Senior Allison Quackenbush found the back of the cage in the second quarter after Apfelbaum fed her a pass across the striking circle.Â
Heading into the second half up 2-0, the Tigers continued to pressure the Sewanee Tigers leading to an unassisted goal by Marley Heitman just two minutes into the third quarter. Midway through the third quarter, Sewanee had a promising look at goal; however, the DePauw Tigers' Charlotte Hood made a last-second defensive save to keep DePauw's shutout alive.
The final goal of the afternoon came in the 56th minute of play when Lilly Harris found Heitman for her second goal of the day.
DePauw outshot Sewanee 20-2, with 13 shots on goal. The DePauw Tigers also led in corners, 14-0.
Sewanee's Claire Damare finished the afternoon with nine saves.
The DePauw Tigers travel to Memphis, Tenn., to face Rhodes College on Sunday, September 11 at 1:30 pm.
